State-&-Union (same thing?)-owned GM is recalling yet another few million cars, as they write a check to themselves for not fessing up to previous failures to recall duds.
I seem to recall that “over half of all [Volvo/VW/Rolls/Toyotas] ever built are still on the road”. Presumably, “Over Half of All GM Vehicles Ever Built Were Recalled” is not such a snappy ad slogan. At this rate, owners should book in the first recall upon taking delivery.
With 10,000 mile service intervals being increasingly common, to satisfy the car rental firms, I suspect that most of these recalls would have just been addressed as normal, in-service and routine replacements.
Had this been a foreign company, it would have been trashed with billion dollar fines.
