Starbucks uses AT&T for its free wifi, although I wonder if AT&T subcontract the actual service. 

My iPad has AT&T wireless, and I leave the wifi enabled, so when visiting Sbux i get tuned into the att wifi service. Which is invariably s-l-o-w-e-r than my wireless.

So after wondering why nothing is happening, I turn off my wifi and hey presto! – stuff happens.

(writing a post in WordPress on my iPad is still a nightmare, btw).

I had assumed that everyone and his dog was using up bandwidth, but today I don’t see anyone with headphones streaming movies or whatever they do.

So perhaps Time Warner or Windstream supply the pipe that AT&T sell to Sbux.
