Markets: up or down, someone always wins.
Headlines always present rapidly falling stock markets as bad news, and rising markets as great news.
The rising markets of the last couple of years have probably been funded by leaking money from the Fed and Bank of England, which has been borrowed from our futures. So we are losing real wealth in order to enable some investors to make money in the short term. But in a falling market, someone is making money from short selling, someone is liquidating and taking the cash, and re-investing it elsewhere. Someone will buy lower priced stock in order to sell at a higher, future date. Etc etc.
I think the worst news is “nothing happened today”.
