After a US Presidential election, when the Blob leaves office, it remains in power by shuffling the deck: every player is given a new desk, office, role or sinecure so that they can keep on keeping on. This seamless non-transition of power is very efficient.
Under the British Parliamentary system, transition is pretty much immediate. “You lost, sucker – get out!” The removals van is barely out of the gates at Downing Street before the new PM turns up in the Jag outside Number 10.
Segue: It reminds of my time at McAfee. “Do Lunch or Be Lunch“. The OEM sales guy came in. Made a coffee. Sat at his desk across from my pigpen. Opened his laptop. He was called into a meeting. Fired. Escorted Out. His replacement was wheeled in, shown to his desk, seat still warm. “Here’s your desk. Laptop’s there. We’ve made you a cup of coffee. Dial 9 for a line.” That’s a transition.
In the USA, we have a pantomime transition following the “November” election, which starts in October and is dragged out by weeks into December. The Big Day of January 20th is when we do Inauguration, the 4-yearly coronation of our Republic’s Chief Executive, following nearly 3 months of “peaceful transition”, during which the incumbent kleptocracy steals trillions of dollars and kneecaps the new team. But the most important work is warming up the network and allocating jobs, so that the ejected power players can continue to run things whilst the panto presidency performs in the White House.
Universities can be relied upon to offer safe harbor to low and mid value Democrats, but the power players are given front line roles, to hold the line and further the cause whilst they work around the new administration. Canadian Biden buddy Ryan Merkley, for example – just named Chief Operating Officer of National Public Radio.
“Ryan Merkley, who directed the Aspen Institute’s Commission on Information Disorder and also appeared in the Twitter Files as Wikimedia’s liaison to “Industry Meetings” with federal law enforcement, was elevated to the job by NPR president/Titania McGrath clone Katherine Maher.
Ryan was part of the co-ordinated DNC-FBI-NYT-WaPO effort to suppress the Hunter Biden laptop story – an “unauthorized information drop” by the New York Post.
